Batman Gates of Gotham cover 2 by TrevorMc112 Batman Gates of Gotham cover 2 by TrevorMc112
Here it is!!!! Cover to Batman Gates of Gotham issue 2!!

The idea behind it was to emphasize family, which hopefully comes across fairly obviously with the Members of the Bat Family, Family tree, tree roots, Grave of Alan Wayne.

How this plays out? Find out in June...

Bruce's great-great-grandfather. Pick up the miniseries-Gates of Gotham. The trade will be out in February.

got a big smile when I bought this issue when I recognize the Bat family in the stained glass

I like the family tree and the bat family connecting to Alan Wayne :D

If Cass is in this issue, I hope Dick's gotten over his distrust of her (as seen in the last Batgirl mini from before Bruce "died"). She doesn't deserve any of it.

Is this the issue with Cass in it? And not a simple mention but an actual cameo?

I love how the "family members" surround Batman like a stained glass halo. It emphasizes how much I enjoy reading Batman comics because the characters feel as interconnected as a family (instead of as simply fellow crime-fighters) and how, despite the grim and lonely environment of Gotham, Batman works best through the support of that family. Although there are some good "Batman as a lone wolf" type stories from time to time, those are definitely not my cup of tea. From the looks of the cover, I think Gates of Gotham is exactly the sort of story I enjoy best. :) Looking forward to it!

I tend to agree with you there for sure, and I hope you enjoy read it. I'm certainly having fun drawing it:) There will definitely be some family shockers in there and some family members we haven't seen in a while are popping up. Though the story will be focusing on Dick and not Bruce, since Bruce is currently off by himself at the moment.

Lots of Bat "family" stuff, and some Gotham history too.

I'm so happy that it's focusing on Dick Grayson. While Bruce is the one who brought the "family" together under his wings, as it were, I really believe it is Dick who sits at the heart of things - connecting everyone together. I think that's why he's currently my favorite Batman and why I've really enjoyed Snyder's take on him in Detective Comics. Dick doesn't see a family as a crutch like Bruce sometimes does in his more somber moments; I think Dick sees it more like how his parents used to perform with him in their circus acts - people supporting those they care about most. It makes him a unique character.

So it makes a lot of sense to see a story where Dick gets tied up in "family" stuff and Gotham history. I can't wait to see what surprises are in store for him. :)

Best of luck on your work! Have lots of fun!

I have to say, I liked the other cover better... but the Alan Wayne grave adds a lot. Maybe combine then together.
